Mechanical Equipment Insulation

Mechanical Equipment Insulation

Insulation and protective jacketing for rooftop units, tanks, vessels, and other mechanical equipment.

Mechanical equipment and the connections around it often have irregular shapes that standard pipe and duct insulation don't fit. J&M Mechanical Insulation insulates and jackets equipment and its connections — including on rooftops, where our job photos show equipment and ductwork wrapped with fitted jacketed covers.

Equipment we commonly insulate

Equipment insulation can include tanks, vessels, heat exchangers, pumps, valves, and the large-diameter ductwork and connections at rooftop units and air handlers. These items often run hot or cold, and leaving them bare can waste energy, create hot surfaces, or lead to condensation.

Rooftop and exposed equipment

Utah rooftops see intense summer sun and winter snow. Equipment and connections exposed to those conditions need insulation that is protected from the weather. Jacketed covers and metal jacketing help shed water and snow and protect the insulation underneath.

Fitted covers can also make it easier to access components that need periodic service, depending on how they are designed and installed.

Precision on irregular shapes

Equipment work is where craftsmanship shows. Seams, transitions, and penetrations need to be fitted and sealed carefully so the system stays dry and performs as intended. That attention to detail is what our gallery work is meant to demonstrate.

FAQ

Mechanical Equipment Insulation FAQ

It is insulation fitted to equipment and components such as tanks, vessels, pumps, valves, and rooftop unit connections, which often have irregular shapes that standard pipe or duct insulation does not cover.

Jacketing protects insulation from sun, rain, and snow. Keeping insulation dry and intact helps it continue to do its job on exposed equipment.

Yes. Service access is something to plan for during the walkthrough, so components that need regular maintenance can be considered in how the insulation is designed and installed.
